World Martial Arts Academy proudly serving Hazelwood & Florissant
World Martial Arts Academy has classes in Hazelwood & Florissant, perfect for kids, teen, and adult martial arts lessons.
Who we Are And why You Should Train Here
World Martial Arts Academy is a family martial arts school serving Hazelwood, Florissant, Ferguson, Black Jack, Spanish Lake, and the surrounding communities.
We teach Taekwondo, but what we are really working on is discipline, confidence, focus, respect, and consistency.
Some students come in loud and full of energy. Some come in shy and unsure. Some need structure. Some need a win.
Our job is to meet them where they are and help them grow one class at a time.
WMAA is led by Master Greg Dickerson, also known as Master D, along with a team of instructors who care about the students beyond just kicking and punching.
We believe martial arts should be challenging, but not scary. Structured, but not cold. Fun, but still held to a standard.
That’s the balance we work to create every day.
Meet Master Greg Dickerson
Master Greg Dickerson is the owner and head instructor of World Martial Arts Academy.
Most students and families know him as Master D.
He has spent years teaching students of all ages, from young beginners taking their first class to advanced students preparing for black belt testing.
His teaching style is direct, encouraging, and honest. Students are expected to work hard, listen, show respect, and keep going even when things get difficult.
Master D believes martial arts is not just about earning belts. It is about building habits that follow students into school, home, sports, work, and life.

Why Families Choose WMAA
We Focus On More Than Belts
Belts are important.
They give students goals to work toward and milestones to celebrate.
But belts are not the reason most families stay.
They stay because they see changes at home, at school, and in everyday life.
They see their child becoming more confident, more focused, and more willing to stick with difficult things
We Believe Consistency Matters More Than Talent
Some students walk into their first class naturally athletic.
Others don’t.
That doesn’t determine who succeeds.
The students who make the most progress are usually the ones who keep showing up.
We teach students that effort and consistency matter more than natural ability.
We Celebrate Success Everywhere
We’re proud when students earn new belts.
We’re just as proud when they:
- Make honor roll
- Earn leadership positions
- Get accepted into special academic programs
- Complete service projects
- Reach personal goals
Martial arts should help students succeed outside the dojang too.
We Know Every Student Has A Different Starting Point
Some students need confidence.
Some need structure.
Some need encouragement.
Some need accountability.
We work hard to understand where each student is starting and help them move forward from there.
We Teach Real Responsibility
Students are expected to:
- Show respect
- Listen carefully
- Follow directions
- Help others
- Take ownership of mistakes
These are lessons that carry into school, sports, work, and life.
We Believe Families Are Part Of The Team
Parents aren’t just spectators.
They’re part of the process.
We work closely with families to help students build habits that support their success both on and off the mat.
We Continue Learning Too
Our instructors continue training, learning, and improving.
We expect growth from our students.
We expect it from ourselves too.
Our Goal Is Simple
We want students to leave every class a little better than when they arrived.
Not just better martial artists.
Better leaders.
Better teammates.
Better problem solvers.
Better people.
What Families Often Tell Us
Instead of testimonials, use short statements:
- “My child has more confidence.”
- “They listen better at home.”
- “They’ve learned to stick with difficult things.”
- “They’ve made friends and found their place.”
- “The structure has helped tremendously.”
